Sen. Kate Hutchison (R-TX) gave undeniable proof that the voters of Texas either: (a) don’t understand the responsibilities of a senator, (b) don’t understand the responsibilities of a voter or (c) no longer give a shit. This woman went before the American people on a Sunday morning talk show and laid this little gem on us:…the Sons of Iraq which are the men who have come forward to be helpful, the Sunnis who are now helping us rather than being against us.

Let’s try and dissect this statement to pinpoint the exact moment that Senator Hutchison’s mind just got up and walked away.“…the sons of Ir… STOP Can we all agree that the “Sons of Iraq” is either a death metal band or Islamic Militia? There aren’t a lot of bands in Iraq so unless the Senator was referring to actual militia thugs she should seriously consider a different… … oh wait… let’s just move on.“…come forward to be helpful…” Do you think you could help out a little? Great. Here’s a machine gun and $300, please don’t shoot any Americans.“…the Sunnis who are now helping us rather than being against us.” This is the part that sent me rummaging through my closet for a shotgun with a toe attachment. Anyone want to guess what it means to be against us in Iraq? She is referring to the same Sunni Militias that were killing our boys six months ago. What a terrific idea; we’ll arm these maniacs and send them out to kill our enemies. Seriously, what’s the worst that could happen?
For anyone who hasn’t drawn the obvious parallel yet, the worst that could happen is exactly what happened last time. Our Afghani BFFs got a little perturbed to discover that after our enemy’s enemy stops being our enemy… we stop being friends. I doubt six months.”This February marked the six year anniversary of this statement. Six fucking years. If he had made this statement in China it would already be working in a textile mill.

OK I think I understand. The Sunni’s who where basically (please don’t nick pick my condensed version of history) put in power by the British after WWI and over the past approx 80+ years, have been the main participants in numerous military coups in Iraq, have held the most senior of government positions to include Saddam (I’m sure that Saddam’s real religion was terror/oppression/power before Sunni but he was Sunni), his inner circle, & most of the senior ruling elite in the Baath Party, AND has a current leader by the name of Ahmed al-Kubaisi who says the United States has invaded Iraq on behalf of Israel and has said he will threaten violence against US forces if we stay much longer (I wonder when he got his US supplied weapon) – these are now our “go to guys”? Then I’m wondering why the Nazi party just went away after WWII. Ohhh that’s right common sense was actually a virtue back in that time period!

Joemama – I cant believe you would accuse me of nit-picking. By the way you spelled it “Nick” picking, rather than “nit” picking. Not to dwell on the subject (by the yep thats our plan), but the correction of nick is significant as it refers to the picking of lice eggs from one’s, or another’s (or nits in the common vernaculer; this actually comes from the english word “hnitu” c.825.

“Your side” moaned and (rightly) complained about casualties being so high. Now that casualties are at an all time low you still complain?!
Perhaps the Senator was speaking about the every day citizens showing US forces where ammunition stock piles are as well as well as where bad guys are hiding, etc. Perhaps the Senator was speaking about life in (some sections) of Iraq improving (banks opening, electricity, water, etc.)
It’s guys who post things like you have that have (rightly… oops I mean LEFTLY) earned the Dems the rep they enjoy today.
Now perhaps Harry could get moving on that impeachment of Prez Bush. That should help with gas prices, food shortages and generally improve the quality of life for every American Citizen. GET ON WITH THE BUSINESS OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!!!!!!!!
