“If I can’t have you, then nobody can!” I’m willing to guess that the previous line has been the battle cry of many a murder/suicide. It’s also become the battle cry of the Clinton campaign. If Hillary can’t have the White House, then no Democrat can. And her cohorts are doing a fine job assuring a victory for John McCain in November.
But why this strategy? Clinton must know that a McCain presidency will likely be just as ruinous as the last 8 years have been. Why would she turn to this scorched earth policy? PolitiPorn thinks that it knows the answer and the answer my friends.
Hillary is setting up her run for 2012, plain & simple. She’s laying the groundwork for making McCain a one termer and destroying the political ambitions of her party & Barack Obama. The clock is running and the Kamikaze Narcissism plan is nearing fruition.
She can’t win the nomination. She knows this and of all the things we can say about Team Clinton, we can’t say their stupid. Mean spirited? Yes. Self-Absorbed? Yes. Totally in it for themselves with no regard to the country or their party? Yes, yes, oh and YES!
Understanding why Hillary would do this is hard to explain. It’s even harder to explain than say why a woman would stay with a husband who publicly humiliates her with his sexual daliances. Or perhaps it’s as hard to explain as why someone would think to use a cigar tube as a dildo. Marriage of conveinance? I wonder which one believes the arrangement to be convenent?
Here’s the plan as I’m able to discern from my lofty PolitiPorn Perch:
First – ruin Obama, plain & simple. This approach has be conducted on two fronts. The initial front is eliminate Obama’s chance at the White House. Above all, he cannot be elected. His election would mean, no primary in 2012 as he would be the incumbent. This would push Hillary’s ambition back to 2016 and God knows most people are not going to appreciate being subject to Hillary’s wrinkled and haggard mug come the ‘16 Election. This phenomenon is unfortunate, but I like to it the “Madaleine Albright Effect.” Essentially it’s this, you’ll notice that Madaleine isn’t on TV that much (save an occasional PBS appearance, but that’s PBS and they’ll show anything), well this is because her BFU quotient is way to high (I’ll leave it to you to figure out the “BFU” acronym). Well, by 2016 Hillary’s BFU quotient will rival if not surpass that of the former Secretary of State. Folks will elect ugly dudes all day long, ugly women on the other hand, wrinkled-ass snowball in Hell. Get the drift?
To pick up on it, Hillary’s chance isn’t now, it’s 2012. That is what she’s playing for. She knows that there is not enough Botox to get her elected 2016.
The second prong of the strategy is to split the party. That right folks, she’s on a mission to make folks hate Barack so much that they will cross party lines in November and vote for the Clinton Straw Man, John McCain. You’ve heard her talk up McCain, she made a very deliberate pause when asked if Obama would make a good president. It’s so calculated it’s dare I say, Clintonian.
The splitting of the party has happened and I’d be surprised if the rift can be repaired. Hillary, in an homage to Charlie Heston, has raised her hands to the sky and parted the Democratic Party as surely as Moses parted the Red Sea.
So what is Obama to do? How can he counteract this strategy? There’s only one solution. Before implementing the solution, Obama and all of us, must realize that it’s game over. That’s right, this election is lost for the Democrats. I predict, that John McCain will waltz into the White House come November and it doesn’t matter if his opponent is Hillary or Obama. The narrative is set. The Clintons have succeeded in drafting a narrative for the media, FOX News, Rush Limbaugh, and the DNC. But Obama can flip the script on them, if he’d be willing.
Drop out. I’m sorry Senator Obama but that’s the only answer. I know it sounds silly, you’re winning afterall! But I’m not the first to suggest this. Here .
I’ll admit, I was choked up by your “Yes, We Can!” speech. I’ve been very impressed with re-invention of politics and your new way forward. The HOPE that embodies your campaign and the movement surrounding you has caught me up in its swift current. The HOPE of a new day of Republicans and Democrats working together to find middle ground solutions made me push aside my cynical views, be it briefly. The promise of your campaign makes me want to go out and do something for my country and my countrymen. Now though, it’s up to you to lead the way and drop out.
Before the Clinton scorched earth policy took effect, you were walking your way to the nomination and the White House unimpeded. The Democrats had this one won before it started. John McCain? This guy made Bush and Turd-Blossom look like fucking genuises back in 2000. Alas, it’s over, let the Hundred Year Occupation of Iraq begin.
You could cite any number of reasons and we’d accept it. I would just hate to see such a bright star extinguished by the GOP and the Clintons. If you lose the 2008 Election, you won’t live to see another day in the political world. Just look at your Senatorial colleague, John Kerry. He doesn’t even get invited to birthday parties anymore. His wife won’t even be seen in public with him. You don’t want that.
You are walking into an ambush here. The McCain campaign echoes the talking points of Clinton. You can believe that Hillary will be feeding McCain political intel. It’s not personal to her. She’ll publicly support you after the convention, but behind the scenes Bill and her will be doing everything to assure you lose and thus set up her 2012 campaign.
If you drop out, she’s done. Your folks are not going to vote for her. I know won’t. Plenty of Obama supporting Democrats will either vote for McCain or just stay home if Hillary is the nominee. She will go down in flames and take the party with her. Cackling and doing shots of Crown Royal the whole way, for sure.
Step aside and Hillary & Bill destroy the party. In 2012, if the country survives the Reign of McCain, you can swoop in and resurrect the new politics. I can wait four more years, I’ve already waited eight damn years.

She is seriously starting to get on my nerves – I who remembered the Clinton years with an unparalleled fondness, I who had nothing but the best hope for her when this all started – I am beginning to wish she’d go back to New York and DO HER CURRENT JOB.
It reminds me of how we managed to make the rest of the world hate us after 9-11. Who needs goodwill when you don’t give a damn about what other people think?
I’m sorry, I have already had 8 years of someone not giving a crap about me, my opinions, or my rights. At least with McCain I can pretend that he cares. (I can also pretend he’ll slip me that Worther’s Original with my 2009 economic stimulus rebate.)
I hear that should McCain win the Presidency, the White House kitchen staff will be serving Metamucil slushies with every breakfast.
Hmm, delicious!
“That’s right, this election is lost for the Democrats. I predict, that John McCain will waltz into the White House come November and it doesn’t matter if his opponent is Hillary or Obama. ”
—–I strongly think a 3rd party candidate is going to emerge. How could this country stoop so low with these 3 candidates we have now. This should be a Ross Perot election year. (obviously Perot not running)
Brilliant recommendation! Obama continues to be villified by the Fox’s O’Reilly, Hannity and Limbaugh’s Operation Chaos. With the complicity of the Clinton’s, it was only get worse when he wins the nomination.
If Obama does drop out and I hope he will for the reasons you
have spelled out, many young supporters and formerly disenfranchised voters ,will become jaded about our so called “democracy” and participation in the political process. However, Obama’s supporters apathy could easily be resurrected in 2012, especially with Geritol, Quick trigger Mcain in the White House. It would be very smart for Obama to bail from the sinking demo ship now and get into a lifeboat, rather than go down with the ship hit by a squadron of kamikaze pilots.
