Alright, the nastiness is about to begin and we all know it. With Obama set to wrap up the nomination and Hillary’s inevitable kicking to the curb, the dirty political onslaught will begin. We are now basking in the calm before the storm.
To that end, I thought up a nice gesture to all the PolitiPornsters be they Republican, Democrat, Green Party, Libertarian or a Naderite. Let’s all have something nice to say about someone besides our own candidate and let’s memorialize it here in the “comments” section for all to see.
Here are the rules:
1. It has to be genuine, no comments like, “Obama would make a good president if he wasn’t Muslim.”
2. One candidate per comment
3. Any comment disrespectful of any candidate (except Nader) will be deleted at the earliest opportunity.
I’ll start us off. Now, I, The PolitiPornster Grand Master, have come out as supporting Barack H. Obama. So I think it only fitting that write something nice about John S. McCain.
“John S. McCain is hero. It’s that plain and it’s that simple. In fact, it is undeniable. He should be an inspiration to all Americans. It is examples of service like that of Senator McCain’s that led me and no doubt other to serve in the military. All Americans should aspire to be more like John McCain.
Although I don’t necessarily agree with him on some major issues of our day, I would still be hopeful for my country under a McCain administration.”

I can’t believe he said anything about global warming; that was pretty awesome.
The ‘he’ being McCain.
Yep, to his credit, McCain has a long history on environmental issues and has affiliations with the Sierra Club.
I think he and Obama will mainly be debating how best to achieve the goal of a cleaner environment. The old days of ignoring the problem are gone.
I think I smell a trap.
I mean how can anyone say anything about Senator Obama without someone else calling racism?
Let me try it this way. I can’t imagine the redicule young Obama took from his class mates having a white mother and black father. It must have been very difficult for him but all of that adversity seems to have made him a very well studied, articlate and driven man.
And he doesn’t sweat much for a man with such big ears. Sorry, I had too.
M54: Cynicism doesn’t suit you. And if you said, “Obama is well studied/spoken” how would that be racism? If you said he’s “well studied for a black man”, well, obviously that has tinges of something else, but…
Anyway.
Mine: Senator McCain has shown a brand of patriotism and loyalty to this nation that is rare and inspiring. As a President I can only assume that he would bring a renewed vigor to the next generation of men.
Lindsey: of course you are correct, I should have not make the last remark.
However, I was sincere about being raised as a bi-racial child. Children can be so cruel some times. Not young children so much but Jr. and Hs kids.
@Lindsey – I like that, very nice and very true. As I alluded to in the post, I think a McCain presidency would be a good thing and against my better judgment I hold out hope that it would not resember the current adminstration.
@M54 – You were doing pretty good there for a moment, all up until the jab at the end. Restraint is the key in this exercise. The ears things is still sort of funny, I must admit. Further, Obama will have to learn to be less sensitive about his big ears.
PolitiPornster: Ummmm, yeh, that’s it. All I was doing was helping Sen. Obama with his sensativity issues.
“Re” straint: implies that there was “straint” to begin with…. Attorney, College Boy!
@M54: *snort*
Sorry, just every time you call PolitiP “college boy” I have to chuckle a little. First off, it’s not like he’s what anyone in their right mind would call a “boy”. I haven’t gotten my finger on his exact age, but I know that I’m just a little’un in comparison. He’s lived life long enough to have enough scraps of maturity to at least have graduated to “young man.”
Besides which- when was the decision made that having a college education is to be cursorily mocked? I’ve heard you get irritated at classism, and isn’t this a kind of classism in and of itself? A guy gets the motivation to do what is necessary to better himself (service to our country rewarded with a useful education) and that’s mock-worthy?
I say this with all due respect, because God knows I respect you, I value your experiences and sacrifices, and I know you’ve got a brain between your ears… but “college boy”? At least attack him for his being oppositional. “Libertarian nutjob”, maybe, or “leftwing bumlicker.” I dunno. You’re clever. You can think of something.
@Lindsey – thanks for sticking up for this Attorney/College Boy but I rather like M54’s use of the term “boy” in connection with yours truly. Although most would say I’m young looking for my age, not that many say this anymore mind you, I still get a little giddy inside when I’m asked for ID as I order my Maker’s & Coke.
However to be exact and in the interest of full disclosure, I’m actually 3# years old. Dang it! I can’t even type it.
Funny thing, the last time someone actually called me “boy” to my face, which I don’t mind, was when I was in boot camp. Wow, that brings back memories!
Lindsey: being such a young lady such as your self and all, what you fail to understand in all of your youngness is that all this jovialness is a term of indearment. So in regular like terms me calling Polit’, Attorney/College Boy is like me saying “let’s do lunch” in lawyer terms.
Polit’: 3#? Are you joking me? Man I got married in ‘74 and have kids nearly your age…. Attorney/College Boy.
*lol* Just so long as I don’t need to stand between you two with a shovel or dead weasel!
