Contrary to the reports of its demise, diplomacy does still work. Not one shot fired, not one soldier dead.
Maybe Bush can line up another carrier for the big press conference. This time instead of “Mission Accomplished” how about a banner that reads “WE GOT R DONE!”

I wouldn’t be calling this a done deal. A good rule of thumb is to not trust dictators. Also, if you think this little diplomacy would have worked without the Iraq war then I am afraid your scope of international dealings is as narrow as Obama’s. I’m just sayin’.

If that were the case, I think this would have happened much sooner. It was actually during part of the frenzy of the aftermath of the war when Korea announced their nuclear intentions. I remember thinking that with an actual announcement regarding a WMD that we’d blow them to smithereens, but we didn’t.
I can’t, for the life of me, figure out why Kim Jong Il is doing this now.
