Stephen Baldwin, in an apparent attempt at poking fun at one of his better-known brother’s less than noteworthy remarks, has pledged to leave the country if Senator Barack Obama is elected president this fall. (Story and video available here.)
Baldwin, much like his more talented siblings Alec and, yes, even Billy entered the world of acting and was inexplicably cast in numerous parts over the course of the last two decades. He peaked in 1995 with a role in The Usual Suspects which, despite his performance, was a decent film and garnered two Oscars.
Shortly after 9/11 (why that’s relevant I have no idea) Baldwin converted to Born Again Christianity and has been insufferable ever since.(Note: This is not a dig on BA Christians in general. Baldwin is just a case of one moron who makes the rest of you look bad.)
When not taking pictures of lonely men patronizing a Long Island porn shop, Baldwin works on a project that marries Christian evangelism with “extreme sports.”
Baldwin has even written a book on his faith called “The Unusual Suspect.” How creative.
As far as Baldwin’s acting career goes, there is not much to report. He’s spent more than a decade making forgettable movies and starring on reality shows that use a loose definition of the word “celebrity.”
On the off-chance that Baldwin the Lesser is serious about leaving let’s not pass up this chance to rid our country of this cretin.

I’m just embarrassed for him. Kirk Cameron too is following and fulfilling his faith, but it’s in a more inclusive and loving way. Just an aside, but Jessica Simpson has lost her way ever since her father tried to manufacture her into a ‘pop princess’. She should go back to ‘faith based’ music, if she wants to find her way again.
Celebrities can exemplify their beliefs without banging us over the head with them, living as an example and not an perpetual critic. (YES, Sean Penn, I am looking at YOU.)

Which is it that bothers you most? That Steven Baldwin is not as famed actor as his brother or that he has come to follow the Savior? (Retorical question, you need not answer).
Ironically enough, I have a true story for you.
A few years ago when Promis Keepers was here in our town I was one of the volunteer drivers. Steven Baldwin was in one of the skits where he was using steel chains to demonstrate breaking free of bondages. In the process somehow the chain hit him in the mouth and he broke one of his teeth badly. I was the guy that drove him to the emergency dentist office that night. College Lawyer Boy, if you could have been in that car and listened to Steven Baldwin call his wife and speak with such love to her and then to here him speak in that little daddy’s voice to his young son… it realy gave me a unique insight into what a wonderful human being this husband and daddy is.

Everybody says something stupid every now and again. Steven Baldwin is not the first “Celebrity” to promise to leave the country if “their guy” doesn’t get ellected. But if Obama does get elected and Baldwin does leave, he will be the first to follow through with his words.
I’m really glad you brought that up. I had almost forgotten about it. Man I can’t remember what we talked about but I can remember we had the best time just riding around and talking. Although after leaving the dentist office he did have that drool thing going. lol
@M54 – Although I’d like to take credit on this one, I didn’t write it, our DC Bureau Chief “Stewie” did. That said, I’d still like to respond to a few of the points you raised.
First, it does not bother me that Stephen Baldwin is the lesser of the Baldwin brothers or that he’s a Christian. I’d never begrudge anyone for their faith, be they Morman, Jewish, Christian, Hindu or even God forbid, Muslim. Your religion is your business and I respect all who practice. OK, I’ll admit that Devil worship is pretty insane and VooDoo is not my cup of tea, but besides those two I’m tolerant of any. Oops, one more, the Shakers. What’s up with that? No children and complete celibacy? Great furniture you must admit, but apparantly they’ve got time on their hands.
Let’s ask this with regard to Baldwin’s promised departure: Where the hell is he going to go? More specifically, name me one country that shares the conservative Christian values practiced in this country? I’ll cue the Jeopardy theme song.

I am beginning to think you skipped waaaay too many classes in your pursuit of “higher education”.
Maybe Steven could get a little flat outside of the VATICAN! I’m pretty sure that “Country” upholds Christian values even more than the USA. haha
You did, however, (probably intentionally) ignore the main point of my post. Steven Baldwin, where it counts MOST, is a tremendous success. He is a loving and committed husband and father! A rare quality in today’s society, especially in the Holliwood scene!

Have you heard Alec Baldwin on Bill Mehyer (sp)? Sorry, but really it is a shame that anyone would sit and listen to this guy’s opinion of basically anything.
On the opposite end, I was surprisd with the intelligence of Ben Afflick on the same show. He was amazingly well informed and quick witted.
Why is it that these “Stars” feel that they should share their opinion with us and that we should give a Sh**? I mean people like Barbara Striesand who people pay to hear sing, they don’t go to hear her thoughts on American politics. If she is going to talk about her views, then she should have a session where she does a lecture series on “Her Message”.
I just shake my head…. not only do we have newscasters and networks giving us opinion on the news rather than facts, but we have uneducated movie stars thinking they have the right to do the same? Sadly, people will listen to these folks because of their stardom, even if they have no clue about the issues of which they speak.
@M54 – To have a flat outside of the Vatican, he’d be living in Italy and last time I checked the Italians were pretty freakin’ liberal. The Vatican, while conservative on issues such as gay marriage, divorce, abortion are equally and as fervently liberal on such issues as capital punishment and the war in Iraq.
Again, I challenge you to find another country that toes the American conservative line. Good luck.
