You can turn on the FOX Network at any hour during the day and assuredly you’ll find them yapping about terrorist plotting to disrupt hootin’ nannies all across fly over America. After the commercial break, you’ll get a heavy dose of child predators and how there is one around every corner. With little to segue or space to take a breath, they’ll bring on some guy who swears that gays will being suing your church for the right to walk down those most hallowed of aisles. Fear, fear and oh look just a little more fear.
You’d think that FOX might change their motto from “We report, you decide” to something like “We’ll scare you, you freak out!” FEAR is the hallmark of the Murdoch/Ailes operation and now they’ve decided “what the Hell, let’s trademark it!”
Yep, FOX News submitted a trademark application for FACT VS FEAR supposedly for an ongoing news segment. Somehow on the FOX Network when it’s a competition of FACT versus FEAR, fear seems to win every time.
It’s really not a bad strategy when you think about. People want to entertained when watching TV. AD folks will tell you that “sex” sells. Sex doesn’t do so bad at the movies either. Likewise, scaring folks works as entertainment too. What sequel are we at on the Halloween Movies now?
To entertain, you’ve either got to Scare, Humor, Titillate or Shock. An easy way to remember it is with the acronym SHITS. If you can simultaneously do all four, you’d be giving people the SHITS.
With the likes of Hannity & Colmes, the morose Brit Hume, that Oompah Loompah Shepard Smith and Bill O the Clown, it is no wonder that the FOX News Netwwork gives me the SHITS.
So far they have not submitted a trademark application for “TERRORIST FIST JAB” but I’m sure it’s in the works!

They drove me nuts with the whole, Obama-HUSSEIN-is-a-muslim thing. So what if he were? All muslims are not terrorist, and that’s a pretty discriminatory thing to say.
Seriously. That was just blatant.
Dear Attorney College Boy; Please, please, please don’t tell me that you are just figuring this out. And by the way it’s not just Fox News. It’s any 24hr news network. I mean they have to fill all that time with something.
Regarding the sexual preditors around every corner. Have you ever entered your own zip code into the data base. I was shocked to see how many lived with a mile of my very own house and I live about six houses down from an elementary school! Not only that but the main school bus stop is in my front yard (benefit of a corner lot).
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if mankind in general would appreciate hearing about the good stuff.
Speaking of the news networks… did you notice that the only thing Senator Obama did in Afghanistan is play baskedball and did not address or shake hands with the troops standing at attention waiting on him when he arrived?
Oh, I almost forgot….but he loves our military men and women! Right.
@mssc54 -
Looks like you’ve fallen victim to false chain email my friend -
From the NYDailyNews.com:
WASHINGTON - The latest chain e-mail smear against Barack Obama: He “blew off” troops at an Afghan base to shoot hoops for a publicity photo.
The letter was apparently written by a Utah Army National Guard intelligence officer in a linguist unit at Bagram Airfield who claimed the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee was rude to G.I.s.
“As the soldiers where [sic] lined up to shake his hand he blew them off,” wrote the Task Force Wasatch “battle captain.”
But angry Army brass debunked the Obama-bashing soldier’s allegations, which went viral Thursday over the Web and on military blogs such as Blackfive.
The e-mail claims Obama repeatedly shunned soldiers on his way to the Clamshell - a recreation tent - to “take his publicity pictures playing basketball.”
“These comments are inappropriate and factually incorrect,” said Bagram spokesman Army Lt. Col. Rumi Nielson-Green, who added that such political commentary is barred for uniformed personnel.
Obama didn’t play basketball at Bagram or visit the Clamshell, he said. Home-state troops were invited to meet him, but his arrival was kept secret for security reasons.
“We were a bit delayed … as he took time to shake hands, speak to troops and pose for photographs,” Nielson-Green said.
E-mails to the officer who made the charges and a call to his wife were not returned.

For your own safety, should you recieve an email saying that won the UK Lottery or the YAHOO sweepstakes…it’s likely a scam as well.
Come on now, you’re smarter than that! You typically post very intelligent well thought out comments.
Speaking of loving our military…
The Art of Manliness had a post today that I think both of you will love. Lessons in Manliness
http://artofmanliness.com/2008/07/24/manly-sacrifice-of-ross-c-mcginnis-michael-monsoor/
Yes I will be the second to admit I did in fact get that very email. I did read it but did not send it to anyone.
I am still dealing with personal stuff and honestly is very difficult for me to “sort out” things re our military especially when it comes from the same region where my son-in-law was killed in action.
I will do my best to do better.
Thanks for your understanding.
@mssc54 - no problem and understandable given your situation.
To the Army’s credit, they knocked this “falsehood” down pretty quickly. The guy who wrote it, underestimated the power of the Internet I think despite being an “Intelligence” Officer.
While I don’t in anyway condone his actions regarding this email, I do feel for him & his family. Apparently, his wife had set up a blog with family photos and stuff for him to look at while deployed. Becuase of the attention this email drew, their blog is out of commission. The letter originally appeared on the blog by the way. Very sad.
The blog is the least of his problems, trust me. Now if Obama becomes CiC than watch out!
The fear they spread is one route to the “lizard brain” (fight or flight instinct). It’s a way to turn off rational thought. Any psychologist will tell you that fear & hate are MUCH more powerful emotions than hope, love, happiness, etc.
That’s why Fox spends most of their time sowing the fear & hatred - then tying those feared/hated concepts to Democrats & liberals.
Hate/fear Hispanics, Arabs/Muslims, furriners, gays, taxes, etc - it works with anything: “Democrats want to coddle terrorists, child molesters, illegal aliens, etc, but we Republicans will protect you from all these scary things - without letting little things like laws or the constitution getting in the way…”
Fox always gives blanket coverage to tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, forest fires, mudslides, etc. I’ve been trying to figure this one out for a while. I guess they get the adrenaline flowing, and instill a “there but for the grace of God, go I” feeling that things could be worse - helps the RW policies, that’re screwing their viewers, go down a bit easier…
.
Well SteeveK tell me then… concerning illegal aliens; what is the percentage of “them” that committ felonies, repeated DUIs, no proper ID means no proper drivers license which means no insurance, which means we legal Americans end up footing the bill for our vehicles and higher emergency room visits etc. I have seen both first hand. Also how do you think these illegals affect the schools?
Please tell me you have an answer to these “problems” rather than just bashing. Answer(s) please.
